Introducing Phlo Studio! Amy has been a Ruby Orchard fan for a while and often pops in when visiting the Midlands. We were thrilled to see the launch of a beautiful new range of scatters and children’s linens by Amy and creative friend Lauren. Made locally in KZN these funky, vibrant fabrics have a Moroccan fresh, feel. We just had to be first to stock them!

1// How did your business begin? When / where / how did it all start?
It all began one day on the beach, two friends chatting about their dreams/visions and realizing they were the same! The ideas started rolling and we took the leap of faith and started Phlo Studio.
2// Why do you do what you do?
We both have a passion for designing beautiful things and take inspiration from colours, textures and places we have experienced. We are always collecting different ideas and that’s what makes the journey so exciting.
3// When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?!
Amy- an interior decorator!
Lauren- fashion designer!
4// What are your hopes and dreams for your products?
Our hope is that people love our products as much as we do and that with each purchase they know the effort and care that goes into each item. We are passionate about what we do and want this to be seen in each product, we strive for simplicity and to create items that are unique and bring character to your living spaces.
5// What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt so far in your business journey?
Patience, Keep things simple.
6// Why should our customers buy your products?
Our products are exclusive and we do a limited amount in each range so therefore each item is unique and tells a story. All items are produced locally using only the best fabrics.
7// What’s your favourite product from your line?
Moroccan Sheen- love love love!!!! Such a fun and unique colour.
8// About you? What’s your – Top Song? Top Food? Top beverage? Top Place? Top movie?
Amy – Well I would have to say the Notebook as my fav movie- romantic at heart! Always love a glass of bubbles, last meal on this earth would be salmon no doubt followed by some delicious sweet treats! The Midlands is a place I hold close to my heart so would have to pick that.
Lauren – A nice glass of white wine or two tucking into a cheeseburger! Parents farm in Dullstroom.
