Through the Key Hole

I have heard it so many times while shoppers wonder around The Ruby Orchard… ‘Your house must be amazing’!  The irony was we were renting a little place, it was cute, but so not me!

I have been lucky enough during the past 8 months to design and build our new family home.  What an experience!  The highs and lows of building are something else!  Sleepless nights about paint colours, light fittings and flooring!

We have finally moved in and I cannot quite believe how all the elements and decor have pulled together.  I have to pinch myself when I wake up in the mornings… this is actually our home!  I can quite happily say I would do it all over again!  But for now I am taking a deep sigh and enjoying every second of our new family space.

Here is a peek at some of my favourite bits…

Kitchen

I chose a clean crisp white kitchen and broke it up with oak floating shelves made by The Ruby Orchard team, stools by Coricraft, oak knobs which I sourced in the UK and oak accessories from The Ruby Orchard.

Lounge & Dining

A refurbished large vintage shop counter from The Ruby Orchard provides the perfect server between the dining and lounge area.

Reclaimed Oak plinths stand in the corner of our dining area… I love wood!

Patio

Skinny La Minx cushions and Le Creuset ceramics add splashes of colour against natural wood, whites and neutral paint colours.

An old rocking chair stripped back to the natural oak by The Ruby Orchard team gives me a perfect spot on the verandah for over looking the garden.

Bedrooms 3

A total splurge was our bedroom light fitting my Minima!

Stripped oak spindle back chairs make great rustic bedside tables in the guest rooms.

We still have lots to do… the study, pyjama lounge and the garden are my next projects!  I’ll keep you posted!
